Anita and her journeyNov 29, 2007
By Paul Beauparlant Filmed in Sweden circa 1973, this story presents the dire circumstances that consume Anita, a 17 year old girl who has developed an obsession for anywhere/anytime sex with perfect strangers. The film is subtitled "the true story of a 17 year old nymphomaniac" and while I have always associated the word nymphomania with a willful pleasure of all things sexual by the afflicted, here, in this case, with this film, we learn that all is not a bed of roses for someone fallen under this condition. Anita is very unhappy as she is unable to control her impulses to virtually just grab any man on the street asking him to "come with me" and leading him to a secluded coat room or back closet for instant sex. We are taken inside the home of Anita's family where we witness what is revealed to be the source of her conflict, namely, her uncaring mother and father and her taunting sister. Enter Eric played by Stellan Skarsgard who tries to understand, analyse and help Anita overcome her problem. Without giving away the whole ball of wax I would like to mention the interesting views of Sweden throughout the film and the period dress by all the characters and even the scratchy print of the film during its opening and closing moments that endeared it to me . For those looking for a generous helping of nudity from the film's star Christina Lindberg they will not be disappointed. And kudo's to IMPULSE pictures who released this dvd with stylish cover artwork resembling an old-style pulp fiction paperback cover

Christina Lindberg in all her naked gloryOct 11, 2007
By Dm Otis Finally this rarity has appeared in a watchable DVD format (I had a bootleg tape for years, real rough image). Let's face it -- the reason you would buy this is Christina Lindberg. And you would not be disappointed. Wow, what a body --and wow it gets unclothed plenty. There's not alot more to say in terms of someone considering a purchase. Yeah, the movie is fine, a nice historic piece, and yes a very young Stellan Skarsgard is in it. But yee-haw Christina Lindberg!!

Cult starlet makes good in previously hard to see film!Jun 03, 2007

"Cult Hero"
I had the opportunity to see this film at the American Cinemateque screening with Ms. Lindberg last year. With a few noted exceptions (Thriller, Sex & Fury - only easy to see since the DVD releases), her films have been incredibly difficult to see in the US and I feel this is one her fans should enjoy. Instead of a violent actioner like those two films, this one plays as a social commentary/soft core film about a young nymphomaniac trying to overcome her weakness for men. It sounds a bit more salacious than it actually is. Christina is a wonderfully fragile as she is in the more dramatic scenes of the other moments and Stellan Skarsgard is fine in a very early role. All in all, my second favorite film of the 5 I've seen by my absolute favorite cult starlet. If your a fan of Lindberg, also look for Exposed/Exponerad, due from Synapse in November (probably). A very odd film, very different than it was depicted in the trailer (availble on Synapse's 42nd St. Forever V1 trailer comp as The Depraved), but still worth checking out!

The Story is meatier than the sexFeb 25, 2008

This is a classic 70's tale that injects psychological themes into it. The reviews claim it's a sexploitation but it's not as titilating as we expected. Anita is on a self-destructive path but other than her troubled relationships, you don't really know why she is on this path. Some of the nude scenes are just weird, too weird to be sexy. We liked the story itself a lot more than the proposed eroticism. For that reason I recommend the movie for its overall themes and plot.

not too bad for a foreign erotic movie...Dec 12, 2007
By Darrick Dishaw there was some nice stuff in this movie, such as the nudity and the erotic situations. but as a film, it was lacking. if you like this sexy actress then i recommend Thriller: A Cruel Picture. that has the best of both worlds: sex and a good story.
the ending wasn't really satisfying either. how was she cured again? some girl on girl experience? maybe it was buried deeper and i missed it?
Anita was ok, but that's about it.
