5Taste of the Cruising Life StyleSep 23, 2008
By Tory Salvia
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R12U6MCTC255GM Features skipper Bob Steadman, a retired Hollywood cinematographer with major screen credits including Blue Lagoon and Treasure Island. Bob sails his 1978 Cascade 36 cutter, "Bettie," with help from his first mate, Kaye Nottbush, down the west coast of Mexico and Central America, stopping at numerous known and less known ports of call. They continue through the Panama Canal, cruise the San Blas Islands, visit Columbia and Honduras, and then cross the Caribbean to the Bahamas. "Bettie" presents a great look at the cruising lifestyle, including practical information about provisioning, communications, anchoring, and rough weather sailing. 5Very NiceFeb 23, 2012

This is a terrific little film about cruising. A great mix of sailing and experiences along the way. It moves along very quickly as they cover 10K miles on the trip. A great peek into what it's like to head out from the West Coast of the U.S. and turn left. My only complaint was that it wasn't longer and it didn't go into more detail about the sailing itself, but overall well worth watching.

5Home Documentary with Big Production ValueJan 27, 2012

This is by far one of the best sailing documentary videos out there.
It's better in many ways than the Pardee's videos - if you know who i'm talking about then you know i have seen more than a few of these types of videos.
it's a wonderful blend of a story of cruising adventure and informative to those who will actually travel in those waters.

1I was so eager, then...Sep 22, 2009

I was so happy to find this and eager to purchase the video. Then I watched the preview. Great imagery and captured well....well enough to watch a crewmember smile and symbolically throw their cell phone into the ocean. Nice. People take pains to recycle these things because they contain toxic materials. Duh. Then, in the next scene, the solar panels are facing away from the sun. I will wait for a better video.
