Excellent program about a very unique place.Mar 29, 2006

Land of the Falling Lakes is about the Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia. I could not believe a place like this still exists in Europe. A very beautiful and unique wilderness worth learning about.
The program is typical of the high quality production of the Nature program on PBS. Beautiful cinematography with well thought out narration and music.

I've always loved waterfalls; and in this DVD, I couldn't get enough of the beautiful scenery and the extraordinary development of this land after the brutal war that the land endured. The animals (brown bear, wolves, beaver, etc.) live in such a peaceful setting and it's interesting to see the lives they have in all seasons. It is one of the oldest national parks in the world and I would suggest anyone, who has the ability to travel, to make it a destination and see the beauty up close.

Absolutely stunning! This PBS Nature DVD is certainly the superb the nature aspect of the Park, but many of the waterfall scenes were obviously filmed from the boardwalk that meanders through the park. Around every curve is a breathtaking view of the waterfalls, under foot from the boardwalk are cascades, riverlets. Just a MUST DO if vacationing in Croatia. I really can't choose the better between Dobrovnik and Plitvice Park!

I bought this dvd to use when planning our European travel, and did not expect to see such incredible beauty. It left me speechless for a long time after the movie was over. I would recommend this dvd to anyone who enjoys nature and/or travel. It is of very high quality, and also gives a person hope for a better world.
This is the ultimate eco tourism, green living life style dvd.

"Croatian heritage"
I watched this program before my trip to Croatia in 2007. The videography is as good as always for the Nature series on PBS. Unless you go there and see it in every season, this is as good as it gets. Of course it is only a documentary and you must go there and experience it in person to appreciate how magnificent a place Plitvice National Park really is.
