I would highly recommend this movie. My 5 1/2 and 4 year old daughters love it as I did as a child. It is just pure silliness and has a great "low budget" early '70's look to it that I just love. My girls were not bothered by the dubbing at all, I just explained to them why the voices were like that. They should make more simple, fun movies that do not burden kids with all kinds of "extra" emotions and "lessons" that are not nessasary for movies to convey. Go Pippi!!

Pippi in the South Seas is a great book. You should read it sometime. The character's names are: Pippi Longstocking, a boy named Tommy, a girl named Annika, and Pippi's dad "Fat White Chief". The main character is Pippi Longstocking. She is very crazy. She is very strong too.
The story is about Pippi, Annika, and Tommy going to an island because Pippi's dad is a sailor. The island is called Kurrekurredutt Island. Pippi and her friends go to the island and have an adventure. Tommy went in the water and found a shark swimming near him! The shark scraped his teeth against Tommy's leg! Pippi threw the shark in the air and the shark went back in the water.
We really enjoyed reading this book and think you would too.

I only recall seeing Pippi Longstockings briefly once when I was much younger. Now I am in my 40's and recalled some months ago how interesting the brief memory I had of her was. I did some research and decided to get the film. I was only expecting it to be so good-in other words not an exceptional, exceptional film as it's a child based film. Believe it or not the film was sensational and one of two dvds that work in my temporary DVD player which has its problems. I was able to watch it over and over without problem. I think I replayed it 5 times and once or twice I was asleep.
Well to put it bluntley Pippi captured the imagination and freeform excitement I once remembered when I was in pre-school. The dreams of building a makeshift airplane or rocket ship to the stars and feeling some excitement about it all as if something would work. Unlike child based programming of this time Pippi steps to the plate with lush color and set design imagery that well just seems to live on forever. The whole show was so enchanted, long and filled with lavish locations and fun environments unspoiled by todays hi-tech less friendly or maturish scenarios. All I all- I left the experience in disbelief. This Pippi character was worth the cost. Filmed in techniques never even thought of any more it reflected the childlike ways of a former generation and time with unrestrained imagination. I would categorize this film along with such classic novelties as the Brady Bunch, That Girl, Wizard of Oz and perhaps movie Jack the Giant Killer.

It brings back my childhood memories of pippi. My three year old is nuts about her I think I can now go to Jeopardy and be tested on all the trivia. I love pippi I now have all four movies thanks!

i personally would love to see pippi ride the south seas again on dvd , this title was great as were the others it would be great to see the other matinees that follow before the pippi flicks don't change a thing just release them please . Highly Recommended for kids ages 5 to 10 , just pure fun.
