| | | | ESTONIA | Home » » Set Point | | | | | | | Description: | | A beautiful young girl, Älis, has just had dessert with her brutal and possessive boyfriend in a café when he is suddenly shot outside. The only other people around are two men walking the street and a random pedestrian. A desperate woman, Evelin, trapped like a caged bird in her rich house and unhappy marriage, happens to be at the café and is soon involved in the murder-as is her husband, Harri, a police officer with a lot to hide, and the young Kristofer, who quickly becomes a suspect with Älis. But no one is telling the truth in this game, and no one is who he/she seems.
Director Ilmar Taska's directorial debut, Set Point, is a tale of love, alienation and confusion. It is a story which reflects a Baltic society in the midst of transformation, where just recently people have begun to lead a Western-styled life of luxury, but are still trapped in corruption and greed. This product is manufactured on demand using DVD-R recordable media. Surprisingly good storyline, refreshing to see a movie without an american cookie-cutter ending, it was quite clever how it was all tied together in the end.
However, there is no escape from bad acting (or should I say lack of acting) - and to be honest, the flow of the movie so slow at times that it caused a friend of mine quit watching it in the middle of the movie.
