Spearheaded by Clive Nolan and Agnieszka Swita this epic production featured also guest musicians: Alan Reed (Pallas/Neo) & Christina Booth (Magenta) on vocals bassist John Jowitt (IQ Neo) Mark Westwood (Neo) & Martin Bowen on the guitars Richard West (Threshold) & Steve Williams on the keyboards as also Scott Higham on the drums. Additional orchestra and choir eye catching visuals and dramatic stage show formed an ambitious two hour musical journey. The musical landscape of 'She' is wide and varied: from the close intimate sounds of voice and piano through to the exhilaration and power of orchestra and choir the music is intense and colourful. Clive Nolan: "For me the blending of orchestra and rock band was one of the biggest challenges. I did not want these to be two separate entities stuck together (as is often the case with 'band and orchestra' albums) but one enormous blended sound." Stylistically "She" has elements of heavy rock and moments of pure opera - sometimes simple sometimes complex this is a rock opera that will stand the test of time.Track Listing/Features: OvertureThe StormThe VeilCovenant of FaithRescueThe Lost CityThe BondingAmbushThe JudgmentHistoryConfrontationVigilShadowsFire DanceCursedCloserDisbeliefMurderThe Eleventh HourResting PlaceThe HermitThe Sands of TimeEmbrace the FireThe Night BeforeThe Fire of LifeSystem Requirements:Running Time: 160 minsFormat: DVD AUDIO Genre: MUSIC DVD/LIVE PERFORMANCES UPC: 5907785031623 Manufacturer No: MMPDVD0132 | | | Features: | |

"She" is an ambitious project from British musician Clive Nolan and Polish singer Agnieszka Swita, performing under the name "Caamora". Based on the Victorian adventure novel by H. Rider Haggard, "She" is an opera performed by progressive rock musicians (to differentiate from the term "rock opera" which, without putting down the form, is usually a series of rock songs assembled to tell a story). The DVD is the live performance of "She", as opposed to the studio CD, which was created by a smaller group of musicians. While the staging is fairly minimal (a lot of back and forth on a walkway) and not a lot of action (even by operatic standards), the songs are engaging and the singers captivating to watch, especially Magenta's lead singer Christina Booth, who in a supporting role in the first half of the performance gets as much or more screen time as Swita performing the lead character. If you can find the "Definitive Edition" (and are prepared to pay a pretty penny for it), you'll get a second CD with bonus acoustic performances, as well as two-CD sets of the studio AND the live productions. But the single DVD includes a worthwhile extra, "The Making of She", with interviews with most of the principals. This work deserves attention.
