A history lesson with a few rocksJan 14, 2009
By GG Gawain Lazy presentation of Sabratha. A commentator talks about the general history of Sabratha. Lots of closeups of broken stones, stairs, pillars and archways, with no explanation of what they were or served as. 99% of camera shots taken with ocean backdrop. None of the surrounding landscape to give a perspective of the city's size and scope next to the beauty of the Libyan Desert. No panoramic views--very claustrophobic. Shows herds of tourists walking through with heads down as if on a police call for cigarette butts. Close to half the DVD is focused on the theater. Instead of using native music to the region, hokey new age European music was dubbed in, giving it a hip old white guy with Birkenstocks feel. At 25mins for $20.00 plus three dollars shipping, this is a complete waste of money. Awful!
