This movie failed on many levels. First, the acting was pathetic. Absolutely no chemistry between the actors; despite the nearly constant gratuitous sex scene, they didn't quite mesh. Second, and most annoyingly, there were huge numbers of errors, so much in fact that it seemed no one bothered to watch the video before it went final. For example, the movie constantly switches from indoor to outdoor shots. Every indoor shot is clearly done at nighttime; the windows are visible, and always dark. However, magically, every outdoor shot is in the daylight. It just gets annoying. Third, the killer, rather than being a fabled practitioner of black arts, seems much more like a red neck ninja. Overall, its very disjointed, poorly acted, awfully scripted and a waste of time. Avoid.

2I JUST COULDN'T GET INTO ITMar 14, 2009

THE LEGEND OF BLOODY JACK

I honestly can say that I can't believe how bored I was with this film, I should have know really so I guess it is my fault but still I expected something much better. The Asylum is a film production company that is now infamous for its rip off films; I reviewed one a while back called "MONSTER" which is a horrible rip off of "CLOVERFIELD". Don't get it twisted this company also does original films as well and over all for the most part I have enjoyed their films. Still I find it impossible to actually get into this movie as I found it to be one of the most boring films I have watched in a while. My self and my brother had an Asylum marathon this past weekend and this was the next to the last one we watched, oh how I wish we didn't.

This is basically your average teen Slasher pick trying to relieve the 70's & 80's boom of these flicks, the cover even says "a modern 70's horror classic". In style this may be true as the film is shot like those films of yesteryear but it just can't live up to it. This "based on true events" [I guess] movie is all about a bunch of young people in the woods who come across some Slasher named Bloody Jack who starts taking these horny kids out one by one. That is literally what this movie is all about, can you say every Slasher pic before this. It honestly gets no points for even trying to be original, I mean even their blatant knock off movies at least try something kinda new to avoid copyright suits.

I guess fault lies on writer/director Todd Portugal since it would be his script that is overly unoriginal, predictable, and just plain boring. As a director and pace setter he seems like he isn't bad but he could obviously get better, with some work maybe he can direct some of their other films. Hopefully he can deliver a much better film with his next go round, I mean he did direct "THE BLAIR THUMB, and TUMB TITANIC" [yes those are real films]. Along side him though is the cast who could not have been more wooden uninteresting, I just couldn't believe them at all. That scene with the woman that pulls over to help them is, eh well just watch for your self.

Still I have read reviews of people who liked this movie so maybe it just wasn't for me or my brother, but for a guy that likes The Asylum Productions and is pretty easy to please [just read my other reviews] this was just boring. Maybe it was the awesome DVD cover or something that gave me high hopes for this but man what a let down. The killer is ok in this and is actually probably what some dude in the woods would really look like but that ending kills even that. This is not an insanely horrible flick it is just uninteresting and boring to me, production wise it is ok. The only thing that saves this from being one star is that there are some decent kills and at least it is not "Monster", but then again I am not sure which one is worse.

1chop chop idiotic messJan 17, 2008

Asylum releases are not worth anything.Bad acting, bad effects and no plot.I will never buy from this company again. This thing tries to emulate the decent slasher movies and fails miserably. This makes the worst of the Friday 13th movies ,masterpieces. The emphasis here is porn.I am throwing the copy I bought away, today!

2A bloody, axe murdering messJun 13, 2007
By Madelyn Pryor "Goblyn Queen"
This movie is a bloody mess, but not in the `good way' at least pertaining to slasher flicks. While there is buckets of red corn syrup flying around, the blood mess I am referencing is the jolting camera movements, the lose plot threads, the trite story, and the unconvincing villain.

The Legend of Bloody Jack begins when a researcher calls his long lost axe murdering relative back from the dead using the Satanic text Jack left behind. Promptly the researcher is killed and a group of young 20somethings wondering into the killing field of the forest for a summer camping trip. One by one they're picked off, in true slasher flick style. That's all pretty par for the course with these sorts of movies. However, much of this movie is subpar.

Some of my complaints are Bloody Jack himself. His costume and makeup look like they were created by rooting through an after Halloween clearance bin at the local Wal-Mart. Simply put, he's not that scary. At first, he's summoned from the dead and seems like an ominous character, but this isn't really followed up on. What we're left with is Paul Bunyan gone amok. The plot is trite, with characters appearing `just in the nick of time' and others allowing themselves to be easy pickings. I simply couldn't make myself care about any of these one dimensional characters. Worse, the quality of the film and camera angles used are jolting, raw, and hard to follow. The blood and guts are clearly fake. There is little redeeming or artistic about this movie.

I am a fan of small budget horror. I want to like horror movies made with love and talent outside the studio dragnet. There are lots out there worth watching, but this is not among them.

Not recommended to anyone unless you're related to or friends with someone who helped make it.

I love horror movies, but this one sucked! You find out later that the whole movie never happened, then toward the end...it does happen, if you can make any sense out of that! I would not recommend THE LEGEND OF BLOODY JACK!!!
